Food for other creatures

In olden days, the kolams were drawn with rice flour. But nowadays, only in certain places, the kolams are drawn with rice flour, and most of the places with chalk/chalk powder/white rock powder.

The kolams in coarse rice flour helps the ants not to walk too far or too long for a meal. The rice powder also invited birds and other small creatures to eat it, thus welcoming other beings into one's home and everyday life.

I hope after knowing these benefits, you would have understood why our ancestors/forefathers started such a tradition in India for the women. 👍👍👍
